Chef Diploma Programs

Our chef training programs are tailor-made for students considering a career in the culinary arts. Our classes are designed to prepare you with the cooking skills and food management qualifications needed in today’s demanding restaurants and food service operations.

Liaison College offers five separate and distinct culinary diploma programs. Each is structured with a different goal in mind. From being able to quickly get a culinary job to being a top culinary chef or culinary manager we are here to make sure that you choose the best program that suits your needs.

The chef diploma and culinary management course programs at Liaison College offer you well rounded concentrated chef training; providing you with both the basic cooking skills and advanced chef knowledge to excel within the culinary industry.

Students initially learn the classic French methods of cooking and food preparation. However, once the basics have been learned we also encourage students to develop their own cooking style and food palates in order to expand their repertoire of recipes and chef skills to be able to participate at any level of fine dining food preparation.

All Liaison College Diploma Programs have been designed under the guidance of our advisory board, some of Canada’s top chefs and each program is taught by a professional chef. We are consistently recognized for the quality of our chef training and rate as one of the top culinary schools in the world.

Small classes limited to 12 students per class, allow you to get personalized attention from the chef instructors who teach every class. Everything we do at Liaison College is geared to your success at every level of the culinary arts. Students also receive job search information and actual assistance in finding fulfilling employment. Exclusive to Liaison College is our Career Action Plan Services, or CAPS, developed to provide the maximum assistance to students and graduates in launching their careers in the culinary arts field.

Cook Basic: The Cook Basic Program is a 300 hour course which provides the hands-on and in-class theory training in classic culinary techniques. Click here for more information

Chef De Cuisine: The Cook Advanced Program is offered to graduates of the Basic Cooking Program with special emphasis on meal presentation, food quality and creativity. Students will also learn head chef operational skills like food math, costing and kitchen operation skills related to be a successful chef. Click here for more info

Personal Chef Diploma: Personal Chefs have become the fastest growing job segment, employing thousands of chefs across North America. You can fast-track your career as a personal chef by taking this course, where you will learn small business skills, marketing and advertising on top of honing your culinary skills.

We are an affordable solution to your education. We offer flexible payment options but more importantly, our staff is dedicated to helping you get into the workforce quickly so you can start earning sooner.

Next Start Dates for full time diploma programs:
January 29th, 2018 and March 5th, 2018

Our courses are conveniently scheduled around your timetable. Life doesn’t have to be placed on hold because you’ve decided to train for a career. Our classes are held in the morning or afternoon, Monday to Friday. Flexible scheduling allows you to either earn as you learn or to keep up your other life commitments.

What qualifications are required to be accepted into a program? Is there an entry test?

Students, who do not have Grade 12 or equivalent may be asked to complete an entrance exam for math and comprehension.

Students must apply and supply school transcripts. Local students must attend a personal interview. Foreign students must send in a completed application form and supplementary documents.

Can I get advanced standing for restaurant cooking experience?

Industry professionals may qualify for a practical exemption. If you are exempt from the practical portion of in-school training, you are still required to complete the 100 hour theory component. Your training will enable you to challenge the Red Seal provincial exam (if you have enough working hours to qualify).
